Mother’s Day Love


Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there – you are amazing! Happy Mother’s Day to my incredible mom, who set the best example for me as I figure out my own way through motherhood. It’s the best job in the world! Thank you, Ava, for choosing me as your mom. I love you!




My Healthy Morning Routine

As requested, my morning routine:
1. Immediately upon waking…think of something I’m grateful for
2. Listen to uplifting podcasts before work
3. Drink 36 oz. of water within 1-2 hours
4. Drink 1 cup of organic green tea (Numi brand is my fave)
5. Be kind to people, smile and keep gratitude at the top of my mind
6. Try to find a good deed for the day to help others (thx, Dad!)
7. Start the day w/ smoothie or steel cut oats w/ nuts
8. Put on my favorite Pandora station and jam out some work


Tips for beginners meditation!

*Meditation isn’t easy for anyone, even experienced practitioners. Everyone has thoughts that pass through when you’re trying to center yourself. The trick is concentration. *Concentrating on your breath, how it feels moving in and out of your body and then holding that focus. If you want to start, try 2 minutes then work your way up to 20. *Meditation is best in the morning or mid-day since it centers you & reboots your brain to deal with life as it happens. You will notice a big change, I promise!

What exactly is Holistic Health?

This is how Holistic Health works: It takes the whole person into consideration when assessing their state of health. This is how I was trained—to treat the patient as a whole, not by their “problem.” Their problem can be attributed to many factors in their life. Holistic Health encompasses: Food, Spirituality, Finances, Relationships, Exercise, Career & Social Habits. The belief that all areas of a person are connected. 

Are you lovable?

Love is powerful! The most important kind is self-love. You have to become the type of person that you can love when you look in the mirror. THEN, you’ll have the ability to love others. Are you lovable to yourself?

My word for 2016

Instead of a resolution, I always pick a word for the new year. The word serves as inspiration & intention for that whole year. My word for 2016 is: CREATE. I want to focus on my goals more this year and I want to create. What is your word?

Quick winter dinner idea!

Ok, it’s cold in California. Really cold. It’s 35 degrees & I know there are colder places in the world, but holy moly, come on! Californians can’t handle this kind of weather. Considering it’s 45 degrees colder than my ideal temp, I am creating a lot of warming foods lately. 

This is a lentil bruschetta stew & it is SO EASY to make that it’s a must try! 

All ingredients can be purchased at Trader Joe’s. If you don’t have a TJ’s near you, you can still make it, it just takes twice as long. 

Ingredients from TJ’s that you’ll need:

– 1 package of pre-cooked lentils

– 1 container of fresh bruschetta, not the jar kind.

– 1/2 avocado


Warm lentils in a saucepan with a little veggie broth on medium heat. Add in entire container of bruschetta and stir frequently until hot. Serves two, garnish with avocado. It is so flavorful!!!

What’s for breakfast?

Irish oatmeal porridge (gluten free of course). This is one of my staples during winter. I still have my smoothies, just not everyday like the summer. 

Oats are great for blood sugar, cholesterol & preventing heart disease as well as being packed full of fiber. 

What is your favorite way to eat oats?? Mine is with fruit, sliced almonds & a drizzle of maple syrup.

Do you stress during the holidays?

What is the deeper purpose today? My deeper purpose today is compassion. The holidays cause people a lot of stress and that causes those people to have rude behavior, (yes I’m talking to the rude people I encountered at Target yesterday). I want to work on not letting those rude people affect me. I used to be really good at this but it has become harder. I ALWAYS do try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they are going through a hard time, illness, anxiety, anything. My Buddha statue always reminds me to be more compassionate. It’s the season of giving so let’s give more smiles! 😀

Advice from Steve Jobs

Motivation Monday

Steve Jobs crafted an incredible essay while in his last days. 

“I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success.

However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to.

At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.

In the darkness, I look at the green lights from the life supporting machines and hear the humming mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of god of death drawing closer …

Now I know, when we have accumulated sufficient wealth to last our lifetime, we should pursue other matters that are unrelated to wealth …

Should be something that is more important: Perhaps relationships, perhaps art, perhaps a dream from younger days

Non-stop pursuing of wealth will only turn a person into a twisted being, just like me.

God gave us the senses to let us feel the love in everyone’s heart, not the illusions brought about by wealth.

The wealth I have won in my life I cannot bring with me. What I can bring is only the memories precipitated by love.

That’s the true riches which will follow you, accompany you, giving you strength and light to go on.

Love can travel a thousand miles. Life has no limit. Go where you want to go. Reach the height you want to reach. It is all in your heart and in your hands.

What is the most expensive bed in the world? Sick bed …

You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you.

Material things lost can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when it is lost — Life.

When a person goes into the operating room, he will realize that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading — Book of Healthy Life.

Whichever stage in life we are at right now, with time, we will face the day when the curtain comes down.
